Is anything uploaded?
No. The folder is read in your browser, on your computer. No file, name or digest is sent anywhere.
Is it the same as the desktop app?
It writes and reads the same modellock.json: the desktop app checks a lockfile made here, and this page checks one made by the desktop app. The desktop app also runs format checks on safetensors, GGUF and shard index files; those do not run in the browser, and a lockfile made here says so.
How big a folder can it read?
Any size your browser can open. Files are read in pieces, so a multi-gigabyte weights shard works; reading takes about as long as copying the folder.
Does it do coding-agent add-ons?
Not yet. Add-on lockfiles (addonlock.json) need the desktop app.
